Health Concerns for Black Mold

Molds are said to cause extensive range of immune reactions that depend on the nature of mold exposure. The adverse reactions to the mold depend on the sensitivity of the immune system of a person exposed. Reactions can vary, but exposure starts with ingestion, dermal contact or inhalation. These health risks are also linked with the allergies, mycotoxicosis, invasive disease and irritation connected with impulsive organic compounds. Health issues concerning black mold brings together some of the diseases such as asthma, respiratory concerns, headaches, allergic conditions and many more.

Allergic reactions

Generally allergic reactions are produced when mold exposure triggers an immune system response in an individual. Mostly the symptoms of the allergic condition includes itchy watery eyes, running nose, cough, sneeze, throat irritation, headaches, or in  severe  cases it could lead to  asthma, sinus infection, or respiratory tract infection.

Invasive disease

Fungal infections are not the most common symptoms. People with weakened immune systems are the most at risk of developing fungal infections. The fungi that generally are associated with the invasive diseases are rhizopus, mucor, aspergillus and clasosporium.

Irritation

When fungi colonies are active they produce Microbial Volatile, which are evidenced by the ‘musty, or earthy’ odor.  Exposure to these infective MVOC’s result in irritation of the mucous membrane as well as the central nervous system ensuing in mold allergy symptoms of concentration difficulty, giddiness, headache, etc.

Yeast allergy symptoms are also similar to that of the mold symptoms that caused allergy reactions with cough, wheezing, nasal congestion, sneezing, throat infection and other illness including abdominal infection causing digestive difficulty with vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, constipation etc. Treatments for yeast infection start with the change in the diet plans with yeast free diet and homeopathic medicines. Some of the molds that are found generally in the meat are mucor, neurospora, penicillium, oidium, botrytis, aspergillus, monilia, mortierella, alternaria, deotrichum, geotrichum, fuscarium, cladosporium, oosproa and thamnidium.
